Vistance is recruiting an Analyst, IT Operations Linux to join our team based in Hyderabad! The Analyst, IT Operations Linux is responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance & support of Unix-based enterprise infrastructure to ensure overall availability and reliability. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, management and support of VMware and Nutanix virtualized environments, performance monitoring & analysis, network configuration, project management, troubleshooting, planning, and forecasting
How You'll Help Us Connect the World:
- Implement, manage, and maintain CommScope’s Unix-based enterprise infrastructure supporting critical business systems.
- Implement, manage, and maintain storage solutions (i.e. SAN & NAS) for Linux, Nutanix, and VMware environments.
- Identify and investigate complex system malfunctions: isolate causes of errors due to servers, desktops/laptops, storage, network, cabling, etc.; work with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues.
- Monitor usage, capacity, and performance of systems; liaise with users and vendors to address problems and changes in requirements.
- Maintain system documentation including licensing, hardware and software inventory, security data, user manuals, Visio-style layouts, etc.
- Plan and implement upgrades to IT systems; install and configure hardware and software.
- Ensure systems are properly backed up and monitored; define and implement backup procedures for disaster recovery purposes.
- Technical: Linux (UNIX) Administration; shell or interpreted scripting
- VMware vSphere Administration
- Working knowledge of high availability scenarios using VMware
- Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP); Backup and Recovery methods
- Working knowledge of networking hardware
- Proficient with MS Office applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot applications in a terminal service or console environment
- Ability to train non-technical employees in complex computer functions
- Team player who is customer-service oriented and works well any time of the day
- Well organized self-starter with strong oral and written communication skills
- Displays high-level system and network problem-solving skills
- Team player who is customer-service oriented
- Able to develop project plans and manage them accordingly
- Provide technical guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
- Manage the ticketing queue and issue resolution.
- Perform other/additional duties and projects assigned
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
- Include demonstrated competencies and physical, mental, & interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor of Science in IT or Computer Science or equivalent experience with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Linux administration
- Five (5) plus years of related experience with administration of Unix Systems Administration, three (3) years of VMware and/or Nutanix, and three (3) years of scripting experience emphasizing configuration management
- Seven (7) plus years administering Linux/Solaris systems in a mission-critical environment
- Seven (7) plus years scripting (shell and/or interpreted)
- Seven (7) plus years of Red Hat Linux Administration
- Five (5) plus years of cloud tenant administration (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Five (5) plus years managing VMware ESX/ESXi or vSphere environments
- Three (3) plus years administering Solaris 9/10/11 (including LDOMs/Zones)
- Three (3) plus years administering Nutanix clusters in a production environment
- Three (3) plus years with configuration management tools – Ansible preferred
- NAS/SAN storage experience a plus (HPE and NetApp preferred)
- Identity Management/AD/LDAP experience plus
- Systems Management (e.g. Red Hat Satellite, Ansible) experience is a plus
- Commvault/Veeam/NetBackup experience is a plus
