General Summary

Analyze and resolve moderately complex engineering and process-related issues associated with production. Maximize manufacturing efficiency through the optimization of processes, design, workflow, methods, and routings using Lean Manufacturing techniques.

This role requires a candidate with a strong foundational understanding of their area of specialization and the ability to further develop professional expertise by applying company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of engineering and manufacturing challenges.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Industrial Engineering techniques to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and cycle time within manufacturing processes.
  • Propose and develop manufacturing process designs, ensuring that initial routings are completed to support new product development releases.
  • Identify and support the design of production tooling, fixtures, and aids.
  • Ensure proper manufacturing documentation by creating and maintaining manufacturing methods, manufacturing engineering forms, operation sheets, routings, and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing process issues by providing accurate and timely recommendations for resolution, while demonstrating exceptional internal customer service.
  • Support new product introductions by optimizing the pre-production phase, implementing manufacturability corrections, and determining tooling and process types that maximize workflow efficiency.
  • Generate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and/or engineering requests to support design updates and material change lists.
  • Ensure routing operation times and related Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) control fields are properly established and accurate.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to manufacturing engineers and document control coordinator assistants as required to meet project requirements and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform assigned tasks while minimizing waste generation in accordance with company standards.
  • Comply with environmental, occupational health, and safety policies.
  • Maintain awareness of negative environmental impacts and occupational health and safety risks.
  • Operate in alignment with environmental and occupational health and safety objectives, as well as applicable regulatory documents.
  • Immediately report any environmental, health, or safety issues to the appropriate representatives.
  • Provide suggestions for continuous improvement of the company’s environmental and occupational health and safety management systems.
  • Participate in environmental and occupational health and safety projects and committee activities.

 

 Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering typically required, with 1–3 years of related experience. Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent. Background in Quality Control or a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual English.
  • Excel, level 3 – Intermediate/Advanced (Ability to develop macros and/or reports within standard application software).
  • Solid knowledge of Design for Manufacturing / Design for Excellence (DFM/DFX).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or related design tools preferred.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems and Lean Manufacturing techniques preferred.
  • Strong computer literacy required.
  • Experience using ERP systems, statistical methods, and knowledge of ISO 9000 / 2000 system requirements preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
